Sarah Palin Attacks GOP for Picking Off 'Commonsense Conservatives'

"Their goal is to replace Dr. Gosar with a malleable politician who has promised, right off the bat, to capitulate, by ‘compromising ... to work with the other side.’ In other words, to sell us out, raise taxes and spend more of your hard earned money."

With naming him, Palin is referring to Arizona State Rep. Ray Strauss, who describes himself as a "Christian conservative," serves as pastor at the Church at Sun Valley in Buckeye.

"We have a fighter in Dr. Gosar. Congress needs more like him! Not only is he a true conservative, he is very effective … Join me in supporting a public servant who won't let us down," Palin says.

Outing Ray Strauss, the Phony Conservative Running Against Rep. Paul Gosar in AZ-4

It requires a breathtaking level of deceit to attempt to run to the right of limited government constitutional conservative Congressman Paul Gosar and attack him as an 'insider.'

But with the help of a shadowy lobbyist-funded PAC – Right Way PAC – which was founded by K Street insider Daniel Flynn, that is exactly what Gosar’s challenger Ray Strauss is trying to do.

While on the Buckeye, Arizona, city council, Ray Strauss supported open borders and amnesty groups. Strauss was also rated a “champion of big government” on the Americans for Prosperity’s Arizona scorecard during his time on the Buckeye city council where he raised the sales tax and property tax."

Another dishonest RINO challenging a conservative, this time in Arizona

Strauss’s website is full of milquetoast bromides tossed espoused by all Republican candidates. He talks about the same old nonsense with regards to immigration enforcement, yet makes no mention of the fact that Gosar has fought every battle on immigration, including his focus on the massive surge of Cubans crossing the border and obtaining welfare immediately, an issue ignored by the rest of the party. Anything Strauss claims he will do when elected, Gosar has already been there, done it, and done more. It’s no surprise that Strauss has gotten money from farming interests, including the Western Growers Association, who want cheap labor and open borders. Why else would someone challenge a man like Gosar and make immigration his biggest rationale, yet receive a PAC check from the amnesty lobby?

Trout production to resume at Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery

There’s good news for anglers and the Mohave County economy. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials have announced that a new water intake for the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery (NFH) has been built and successfully tested in Lake Mohave. […] ‘This is a huge win for Arizona anglers and the local community,’ said Larry Voyles, Director of the Arizona Game and Fish Department. ‘It’s gratifying to see the collective efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department, and local stakeholders come to fruition. We’re particularly grateful to Senator John McCain, Representative Paul Gosar and Mohave County Supervisor Hildy Angius for their staunch support in bringing trout propagation back to Willow Beach.

Weekly immigration report Aug 2, 2016: More backdoor amnesty and more planned

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) said, ‘The Obama Administration admitted it has no clue how many unlawful immigrants from Central American countries will be flown into America as a result of expanding this unconstitutional amnesty program. This action blatantly violates federally mandated immigration caps as well as Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution.’ (Gosar Press Release, July 27, 2016) Earlier this year, Rep. Gosar introduced the FAIR-supported ‘Central American Amnesty Termination Act of 2016’ (H.R. 5141) that would prohibit federal funds from implementing CAM. (See FAIR Legislative Update, May 10, 2016)”

U.S. and state legislators visit Rose Acre Farms

It was VIP time July 21 at the Rose Acre Farms egg-laying facility being built south of Bouse. A delegation featuring U.S. Rep Paul Gosar (R, Ariz.) and State District 5 Rep. Regina Cobb toured the facility, which is currently under construction. […] When completed, it’s estimated the facility will house three million laying hens and will provide 80 to 100 jobs that would include comprehensive employee benefits. […] ‘It’s pretty amazing,’ Gosar said. He added that many egg producers are looking at Western Arizona so they can be close to the California market. ‘Arizona is very close to becoming the egg capital of the world,’ Gosar said. Gosar said he was particularly impressed with how everything will be utilized and re-utilized. […] The facility is perfectly situated as there are no migratory bird flyways nearby, Gosar said. This will lessen concerns over diseases like the avian flu.”

Gosar talks budget, DACA at tea party meeting

District 4 U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Prescott, was the guest speaker at a recent Colorado River Tea Party Patriots meeting. Gosar spoke briefly and then took questions. Points made include:

  • The budget is most important, including denying federal funds to sanctuary cities.
  • Regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, they only have to spend one day in the military to get their citizenship.
  • Through an executive order from President Barack Obama, 108,000 people have been legalized through DACA since 2014. It’s “a perfect Supreme Court case,” Gosar said.
  • Obama’s executive orders are nothing but “a piece of paper,” and Republicans in Congress can vote not to fund them.

Bipartisan bill could increase renewable energy on public land

State and federal officials praised a bipartisan bill that would encourage renewable energy development on public lands by streamlining the permitting process and letting local governments share in revenues from the projects. The bill would “level the playing field” between renewable and fossil fuel projects on federal lands by creating a streamlined leasing process for wind and solar energy projects like the one in place for oil, gas and geothermal energy. […] The bill by Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Prescott — which already has 67 co-sponsors, including every member of Arizona’s delegation — would give counties revenue to help cover these costs. […] Gosar’s bill would also create a Renewable Energy Resource Conservation Fund, which would get 35 percent of revenues from any project

Officials back bill to encourage renewable energy on public lands

Gosar’s bill would also create a Renewable Energy Resource Conservation Fund, which would get 35 percent of revenues from any project. Money from the fund will go toward offsetting the environmental impact of these new solar and wind developments, something Gosar, who called himself a ‘passionate fisherman,’ said was very important to him. […] There is no hope of action on the bill before Congress leaves for its two-month recess Friday, and only a few months left in this Congress after that. But Gosar said he is very hopeful the bill will succeed due to its bipartisan support. ‘It tells you that it transcends political divisions,’ Gosar said. ‘It’s common sense.’

Case Against Undocumented Immigrants Serving In Military

In 2014, Obama created a new Department of Defense policy that would allow illegal immigrants to serve in the U.S. military under Military Accessions in the National Interest, or MAVNI. The program was originally meant to allow the military to recruit noncitizens who had ‘especially valued’ or ‘highly specialized’ skills -- for example, someone in the U.S. on a student visa might qualify if he or she is fluent in Arabic. Obama, frustrated that he couldn't get congress to play ball on his amnesty plans, opened MAVNI to ‘undocumented immigrants.’ ‘In a quest to cement President Obama’s lawless immigration agenda, his administration hijacked a military pilot program and turned it into another one of the president’s amnesty programs,’ Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, a Republican, wrote in a statement on July 12.

Election 2016: 3-term Rep. Gosar says Washington hasn’t changed him

The House of Representatives has the power of the purse and I have been leading the charge to ensure we use it. My 73 amendments that have passed through the House have cut or prevented more than $1.6 billion in wasteful government spending.’ […] Gosar said the three biggest issues in this year’s election are jobs and the economy; illegal immigration and securing the border; and ending ‘business as usual’ in Washington.

As for his primary opponent Ray Strauss, Gosar said Arizonans “deserve a fighter not a milquetoast: ‘Strauss is a nice guy. Having said that, I have not heard anything from him in terms of substantive policy proposals.

Amendment on Lake Havasu restrictions passes U.S. House

he U.S. House of Representatives passed an amendment this week that would prohibit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from using federal funds to restrict recreational tubing, waterskiing or wake boarding on Lake Havasu. No changes are likely to occur on the lake until the legislation meets approval by the U.S. Senate, and is signed into law by President Obama. […]In May 2015, the Fish and Wildlife Service expanded a no-wake zone in Lake Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. The restrictions drew city and county administrators’ disdain by inconveniencing boaters without any advance public notice, Gosar said, and implemented two days prior to Memorial Day weekend. […]Gosar led a bipartisan effort within the House, until Gosar’s amendment was attached to the Department of Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2017.

Rep. Gosar’s IERA Amendment Will Block Increased EPA Overreach

American citizens cannot afford more economic hurdles and the commandeering of state powers over precious water supplies from an overzealous, unaccountable federal government.  States, local governments, and private water rights holders should not be subjected to such costly and burdensome federal overreach.

Americans for Tax Reform encourages all members of Congress to support Rep. Gosar’s Amendment #7 to H.R. 5538, which would prohibit funds for the EPA-USGS Technical Report, which aims to expand the scope of federal control over waters currently under the jurisdiction of states.

2017 Pay Raise Silently Advances, But House Bill Would Block Some Bonuses

Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ)  introduced an amendment to block bonuses for senior career appointees and other federal agencies that receive funding through H.R. 5485.

Gosar issued a press release last week entitled “House Passes Gosar Amendment Blocking Bonuses for IRS and Other Federal Bureaucrats” regarding his rationale for introducing the amendment to HR 5485. He is quoted as follows: ‘It is unconscionable that Lois Lerner and other dishonest senior officials within the IRS have received more than $100,000 in bonuses in recent years. Committing perjury, purposely disposing of hard drives and more than 24,000 emails in order to stymie an investigation, while providing an extremely poor level of service to taxpayers doesn’t warrant a single penny in bonus compensation. Giving out bonuses to senior management in the middle of one of the largest and most significant scandals in modern American history is a slap in the face to the American public. Once the IRS can prove that it will hold rogue employees accountable for their ineptitude, I will cease my efforts to prohibit these awards.’”
